Spring Clean

Only 2 more months until I'm back in the US.  So excited!  Hope you all are ready :)

Last Monday was Labour day here, which, even for the weird spelling, meant a day off. Wouldn't it be right though that the weekends leading up til then would be gorgeous, warm and sunny, and the whole long weekend would rain, or at least threaten to? Well, I didn't let the weather get me down, I got right into  my 101 in 1001 and took down nos. 59 and 65 - Organize the hallway closet and Clean out my closet and donate clothes.

Check out the before and after photos (okay it's more like during and after cuz I forgot to take a before):

(Hallway Closet)

From drab to fab!

(Bedroom closet)

I find that organizing my closet really means taking over more of Tim's space, but at least it looks good.  Hubby has a seriously unhealthy love of jerseys that he doesn't wear anyway, so I don't feel too guilty compacting his space.

(And he won't let me get rid of any of them!)

So my spring clean is officially done!  Tonight we are off to watch Australia take on Paraguay in the soccer.  Aussie Aussie Aussie Oy Oy Oy!

(And Go Gators tomorrow!)

Bargains

Ok, so one of my biggest pet peeves about Australia is how much everything costs. Seriously, everytime Tim and I go out to dinner or pay bills I always feel like this country is trying to rob me! The food, the clothes, the internet, cable...everything costs more. So naturally, I've become a bit of a bargain hunter.  Now I know so many people back home who are fanatics of sites like Groupon or Restaurants.com or Living Social, well FINALLY these sort of discount websites have shown up in Sydney (oh yeah, besides being expensive, everything in Australia is like 2 years behind the US!)  Needless to say, I've joined like every site and I check everyday for new savings.

Because of the outrageous prices, grocery shopping has become like a sport for me - every week I try to outdo myself and spend less on groceries than I did on the last shop (but before you judge me thinking Tim and I eat only like eggs and toast because I'm that cheap, I'd just like to say I'm not. We eat well, well, as well as I can cook). I actually add up the prices of everything I pick off the shelf on my (phone) calculator and I never spend over my budget (I'm completely lame, I know!) If Australia actually did coupons, I would totally be that lady that has a hundred in her hand and everyone behind her in line hates her. Tim thinks I'm ridiculous, his argument is "we make good money, who cares how much we spend on groceries" to which I always come back with "why would I want to waste my hard earned money on groceries! I'd rather spend it on fun stuff" (whilst visions of Hawaiian beaches and European holidays dance in my head...)  So you can imagane my elatement when one of the discount websites popped up with a deal for meat. I snapped that baby up within the first minute of seeing it. And here's the result:
